This is a very good price on these wheels considering what they're going for around other online merchants. I ordered these yesterday. The QC, RD and CustServ is all there should someone want to take the plunge on a super lightweight wheelset that's proven. Other sites including fleabay have these between $800-$1000.
The closest price I've seen to these are the "exclusive" EA90's that Performancebike sells @ $599. The only difference is that the PB have steel bearings where these @ PricePoint are Ceramic and $100 less.
If you're in the market for a super light set chances are you're already planning to spend somewhere around $1000 or less...cut that in half and get a quality brand and the best set of Aluminum Clinchers that Easton has.
Also, there is no listed weight limit on these wheels. I'm 175lbs, so i don't think about that too much anyway. I think these are a very good deal. Maybe not "screaming hot" but a good deal compared to other online wheel makers I've seen. Shipping is $21 too btw.
Thanks for posting. After seeing your post I did some quick research. Looks like a really great price and light weight.
However it seems the 2011 model has lots of reviews from buyers that experienced broken spokes and rear hub coming loose.
Is there a chance that is why this is such great deal? There are leftovers? Is this case of "too good to be true?" Very tempting but reviews have soured my anticipation a bit.
I have these wheels, weigh 170 lbs, and have had zero issues with them after about 500 miles (knock on wood). I believe that Easton got a bad batch of spokes from Sapim but I guess it is possible that these are leftovers from that batch.
I also have a hypothesis based on what I've read that MOST issues have been with the Performace exclusive wheels. I say go for it, you can't beat $500 price for these wheels! They spin up crazy fast and the hubs spin forever! You also shouldn't have any flex issues based on your weight.
I have this wheelset with over 2000 miles no problems and they stay pretty true. I recently hit a huge rock in the rode while in a peleton, it was hard enough for my water bottle to fly out, my hand came off the bar and i pinch flated. wheel stayed round and true. I am 155 lbs
Is this the same item as found here? amazon.com/Easton-EA90-SLX-Wheel-700C-SRAM/dp/B004ZGZZ1O/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1336116275&sr=8-2]Amazon.com: Easton EA90 SLX Wheel - Clincher: Sports & Outdoors
it appears to be...Amazon appears to sell the wheels as front and rear...you put the price together and get about $1000 which is the going price just about everywhere. That's why I think PricePoint is a good deal if someone is interested in a light weight wheelset. Give PP a call, I did before placing my order.

Very nice deal. According to Easton the performance version also uses a slightly heavier rim, and possibly different nipples as well. It's quite a bit heavier than these.
FYI
I ordered a set of these and they were delivered with no hassle.
On the site it mentioned 2011 model AND R4SL hubs (the ceramic version)
The model delivered were the R4 hub (non-ceramic).
I called PP and mentioned the error, and they (with no hassle) said they would send me a shipping label for return shipping (pre-paid).
I have yet to receive the label, but upon checking the website today, they have removed the R4SL from item description.
Follow up question:
Is it worth keeping the set for $500? I know that the ceramic debate has strong opinions on both sides, but for a roughly 1400gm wheelset sans ceramic bearings, is this still a great deal?
I'd weigh them to see. There is the "Special Edition" version which Performance was selling, but those were somewhat heavier than the current version, and even heavier than the posted weight for the 2008 version (which is similar to the Performance version).
I had a set of the Performance version and the weight was around 1530g or so I think for the pair. At that weight/price you can get RS80s which are wider and deeper. I saw no reason to stay with the Eastons. At sub 1400g i'd strongly consider the Eastons though, but these don't appear to be the 2011 version.
