2007 KHS 700 or 2012 KHS 450, looking at both, both are used and in the same price range (500+). Not sure about any of the big differences other than one is older than the other. Anyone with previous experience or knowledge have any suggestions or opinions?
7.5 months post ACL reconstruction and looking to get into road biking to help build strength and eventually look into long distances.
Very similar frames, 6061 aluminum with a carbon fork/alloy steerer. The 700 is a 9 speed lower level Shimano Tiagra and the 450 is a 10 speed Microshift group. Some people do not like Microshift, I am not one of them, I like the 10 speed group and have run the shifters. That said, the groups are close in quality and function and the frames are also, so I would go with the one that fits best and is in the best condition.
Tiagra is a very well respected Shimano gruppo. Microshift is a little known Johnny come lately. If the company folds in a few weeks, within a few years, it may become difficult to find replacement parts.
That said, I really haven't heard any negative things stated about Microshift, performance wise...
