Riding in the heat

I suffer in the heat and hope you can give me some good advice.

This past Saturday, I rode in the King's Tour of the Quabbin Century. It's a challenging ride with about 6000 feet of climbing, I think. Normally, this would be a ride I could comfortably do, but the temps on Saturday hit the high 80s (possibly higher) for the first time this year. I thought I was going to melt. I really suffered during the last 25 miles of the ride despite drinking plenty of water and gatordade. I don't think I was dehydrated as I could pee, but I had a wicked headache which made me wonder.

At the conclusion of the ride, I washed up in cold, cold water and then sat in the car with the A/C going strong. Once I cooled down, I felt a lot better, but still not great.

Any tips or suggestions on what to do so that future rides in the HOT weather are more comfortable? This is a recurring problem for me.
