    11 Speed Conversion

    Hello everyone,

I have a wheelset, DT Swiss R1800 Limited Edition, from my 2011 Giant TCR Advanced 2. I was wondering if I would be able to convert them to 11 speed in hopes of upgrading my groupset to Shimano's 6870 Di2. If anyone could offer some insight I would very much appreciate it. Thank you!

I am converting my 6770 to 6870 11 speed. I have Dt Swiss 240s rear hubs. DT makes a "rotor kit" to convert the hub from 10-11 speed. You might check to see if there is a similar rotor kit for your hubs, assuming the DT.

Yeah I did see that conversion kit for 240s and 350, just not sure what the actual hubs are on my wheelset. If anyone has the same wheelset and would be able to provide some help it would be greatly appreciated.

R1800 uses a dt Swiss 370 hub. I know the 180, 190, 240 and 350 are all upgradeable by just switching the free hub.

I think you might be sol.

If there isn't a direct swap to shimano/sram 11 speed, you could probably convert it to campy and run an 11 speed cassette that way.

    R1800 Hub

I was wanting to convert my 10s R1800 rear wheel to 11s. I emailed DT Swiss.

    This is what I said:
I have a DT Swiss R1800 wheelset off a stock Giant road bike. I am wanting to switch from 10 speed to 11 speed. It currently has a 10s freehub. I am finding it very hard to source a 11s freehub replacement for it since R1800 is the model of the wheelset, and not the hub it self. I read that the hub is actually a 370. Is that correct? If so is it this part number that I need?

    This is the reply:

Thank you for the email. The Onyx/370 2-pawl hubs were not designed to be convertible to 11 speed road. We made a very small number of Onyx hubs that were 11 speed road compatible, but the older 10 speed versions are not convertible to the 11 speed road standard.

That part that you have found is for the later Onyx hubs were 11 speed road as the stock configuration.

Not a cheap fix but EDCO is making 11 speed cassettes that fit on a 10s body.
    Cassettes
Looks like available from a few vendors for $200-$250.
