I want to get some strong but light wheels built and was looking at Mavic Open Pros, Velocity Aeroheads or DT Swiss RR 415 rims. The OPs and Aeroheads are rated for tires 19-28 mm, but DT Swiss rates the 415 for 19-25 mm tires. All three rims have virtually the same dimensions, so I'm inclined to think the DT Swiss rims could also handle 28s but want to make sure. In my experience with OPs, I've found they will take much larger tires than Mavic recommends. I've run 32 mm tires on my OPs with no problems.
Also, DT Swiss rates their RR 465 rims for tires up to 35 mm but they have virtually the same dimensions as the 415. I assume the rims are thicker and they also have double eyelets, but they weigh 50 g more per rim.
