    Equivalent to Conti Ultra 3000

I have a pair of Continental Ultra 3000 (700x28c) tires that I've been using on my winter training bike for the last couple of seasons. These are wire bead but reasonably light (est. 280 grams), and I've found them to be durable with no flats that I can recall.

Since these have long been phased out, what would be the current equivalent in the Conti line? Grand Prix 4-Season? And how does said tire compare to the Ultra 3000?

    Thanks.

Continental Gatorskins are equivalent and have great durability. If you are looking for more of a fast tire, with lighter durability, then the 4-season tire is good.

Thanks, looking at some user photos, I can see much more clearly how the Gatorskins resemble the Ultra 3000s. However, they sure have gotten heavier at 360 grams/tire.

They have a regular Ultra Sport as well, but it is not as puncture resistant. It depends on what you want out of the tire. If you want more performance, then move to the Grand Prix 4000 series.

    If you care:

    Folding Gatorskins are 230g at 700C x 23mm wide and 250g at 25mm.
    Folding GP 4 Season are 230g at 700C x 23mm wide, 240g at 25mm, and 260g at 28mm
    Folding GP4000S are 205g at700C x 23mm wide and 230g at 25mm

All have better rolling resistance, ride quality, and flat resistance versus the Ultra 3000. Gatorskin side-walls are tougher too.

Thanks, it sounds like the Grand Prix 4-Season is the ticket. Too bad they don't make a folding Gatorskin in 28mm.
