    OK, here's a weird one for ya (or maybe it's a known issue)

    I put a tubeless ready tire on a tubeless ready wheel, but I used a tube. I did this a couple of days ago. It slowly loses pressure from 50 psi to 30 over 24 hours. this has happened twice now. Is there just a leak in the tube? Maybe. But I am thinking that the tire may be sealing well enough against the rim, so that air is trapped between the tube and the tire. As the tire slowly lets the air out, the pressure goes down, even though there is no leak in the tube. I just pumped it up again. What say you?

    Pull the tube. Check for leaks. Repair or replace.

    Losing 50% of pressure over 24 hours is not a slow leak. And yes, there is a leak in the tube. Remove the tube, and inflate it in a bathtub. You'll see a stream of bubbles.

    Yeah, I guess that was pretty dumb thinking. Even though the tire is sealed against the rim, and the spoke holes are taped, air will still go freely past the valve stem. It's frustrating though with a new tire and new, high end tube that I did not use levers to mount.

    The removable valve core was leaking a tiny bit.

    Was it a latex tube? If so, leakage is normal, but only about half of what you are seeing.

    takes too long and uses too much water. inflate it until it starts to deform, then submerge sections of the tube in the bathroom sink to identify the leak(s).

    If you pinch flat with this setup it takes longer for the system to deflate because the only outlet is past the valve stem I've noticed it might add 30 s to 2 mins. Adds a nice little safety margin.

    I like that. So there IS some air retained by the tire.

    The down side is that it is a tighter fit... a little more effort to get the bead on and off for tube changes.
