i've always used the tape, can't remember the last time i installed a rubber strip. which of course means i have no idea if it will work or not, but i can tell you for sure the tape does. and very well.

The sell a cyclocross rimstrip for 700c wheels. Most people use it for low pressure cylcocross tires. can u use the rimstrip for high pressure road tires, or do you need to use the tape?
usually not needed, unless you have Mavic Open Pro rims.
You'll just need the 2 layers of Stan's rim tape per wheel.
Bontrager's tubeless conversion....uses a rim strip with a specially molded bead profile, which I suspect is UST... but I digress.
