I have a new Cannondale Carbon Supersix Ultegra that came with Aksium wheels. First let me say this is the nicest bike I have ever owned or ridden so I love it. I have been wanting to upgrade the wheels to something lighter or better for doing recreational riding and the occasional sprint triathlon until I can handle the longer tris. I am 50 and about 190lbs and getting back into doing some riding, training on mostly flats with some hills here and there.
I love the bike but I have been saving for some better wheels...I was all ready to buy some ROL Race SLs but then I was offered some very slightly used Profile Design wheels at a really good price (a little more than the SLs). Not sure what I should do. I love the look of the Profile Design Semi Carbon Altair 52s, but am I a poser for wanting an aero wheel as I just get back into riding? I read so many great reviews on the ROLs but it is hard to find much on the Altairs to learn anything. Can anyone tell me more about what I would be getting from the two choices? Are they much better than the Aksiums and what would I notice on my riding? Any feedback or advice is truly appreciated. Price range is in the $700-$900 range
Thanks and happy riding
