will wider 700x26-32c inner tubes work for narrower 23c tires?

I would like to know if inner tubes marked as 700x26-32c, will fit or work on 23c tires. I read at another forum that using larger or wider sized inner tubes allows the tube walls to be thicker, since it doesn't have to stretch as far as narrower tubes. Does this logic work, or should I just buy tubes marked 20-25c instead of the 26-32c for 23c tires?

Buy the right ones. There's no advantage to using the larger ones. Although you could use them, it takes more care to get them installed properly, and there's more danger of trapping the tube under the edge of the tire and damaging it.

Beyond this, if the tube is too large then it may have a wrinkle in it when you pump it up, and that will likely lead to a flat due to the wrinkle rubbing a hole in the tube.

If the OP is thinking that thicker tube walls will reduce puncture flats, he is not correct. Any reduction in the rate of air loss would be miniscule. No real benefits from a thicker tube unless you live someplace with a lot of thorns or similar and you go with the super thick punture resistant tubes.
