    Aluminum Frame Materials?

Can someone give me a comparison of aluminum frame materials, say best, equivalent, and worst, or lightest or strongest, etc?

ie. How would Easton Race Ultralite compare to Scandium? What's the difference? Is this info already provided somewhere?

I've looked for resources on aluminum frame materials, including 6061 T-6 and 7005 tubesets and haven't found much of value. My sense is that the differences in materials are relatively small- even the Scandium reinforced alloys, which actually use an incredibly small percentage of Scandium (.2%?).

Many manufacturers suggest the primary or largest differences in the end product- the bike frame- come from the design of the frame and the way the tubes are joined as opposed to large differences in aluminum tubing.

A little information can be found here: http://www.dedacciai.com/home_eng.html

click on products - aluminum - drawing and then each of the little trademark stickers.

Also here: http://www.eastonbike.com/PRODUCTS/T...sets__top.html various products mentioned in the left frame.

When it comes to tubing, "most expensive" often equals "best", because it's used by MFGRs to build well thought out and designed frames. Of course, there are exceptions to that loose rule.
You'd be better off with a netbook, they do everything better.
