Question Anyone with a Cervelo R3 disc? Got questions about the bottom bracket/crankset!

i'm thinking of getting the new Cervelo r3 Disc but the only thing I don't like about the bike is the Shimano group set and the FSA SLK light crankset. I would like to swap the whole group set for full SRAM Red 22 hydro with a Quarq power meter.

Given the R3 disc included FSA crankset has a 5MM offset (2.5mm on each side) to accommodate the proper chain line at 405mm chainstays, is a swap for SRAM still possible? Does the offset meaning I need to find a crank spindle that is 5mm longer and long enough to accommodate the offset? Which SRAM Red or Quarq crankset version should I be getting? GXP?

Do I need to get a new bottom bracket to replace the BB386EVO too?

Also if anyone has done such conversion, anyone had issues with 52-11 (big-small) and 36-28 (small-big) type of cross chaining grinding on the front derailleur?

Or is a conversion simple not possible and would I really be stuck with the FSA SLK crankset?

DO cervelo's still use the BBright bottom bracket/crankset? I think there's only certain cranks that fit straight up (FSA/Rotor), the rest have to be fiddled with to make them work. Or is this something else? Been a while since my Cervelo days, probably a better question for the Cervelo area of the forum.

    This is something else.

Before Shimano introduced the 142x12mm rear hub standard for disc brakes, companies were doing whatever they pleased. Specialized tried bucking the trend and making a competing 135x12 standard called SCS, that failed. Other companies like Cervelo turned to companies like FSA to produce custom one off cranks with different chainlines. That's the case here.

Shimano wants certain spacing between dropouts and certain length chainstays. If a company like Cervelo doesn't want to conform, they'll do something like this, have a custom crank made for them. If you put a normal crank on it will ruin the chain line and according to Shimano will not work as intended. Cervelo doesn't seem to care.

Best answer is not to buy the bike. Wait for them to make a proper road bike with disc brakes, should be coming in the near future.

Easiest answer is to buy a proper R3 road frame (none of this disc shyte), plus an Enduro Torqtite BB to convert BBright to the cranks you want to use, and put whatever damn components on it you want.

Not interested in buying the rim brake R3. Thanks, but no thanks for your non-information.
