    Carbon frame materials

I have been looking into purchasing a Marinoni Super Vectra full carbon bike (see http://www.marinoni.qc.ca/html/2005/...upervectra.asp). It says it uses TOHO IM600 carbon fibre which means nothing to me. Does anyone know what kind of carbon fibre other manufacturers are using? What are the advantages, disadvantages, etc?

    Any information would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I'm sure that people inside the CF industry know what this means, but since few other manufacturers specify the CF used, there's little to compare against. Also, there is a lot more to frame quality and performance than just the CF used, including the design issues of layup, thickness, tube diameter and shape, joining methods, molding methods and conventional geometry issues. Google tells me that this CF was referred to in a journal article in 2001, so it is not the latest and greatest, but may be just fine. Just like the METAX alloy used by MAVIC in their rims, you will not learn much by knowing things like this. It is a way for the marketing folks to baffle you with "techno speak."
