    Is this a fake Pinarello?

    G,day all,
looks like another Chinarello thread ,
I'm interested in this bike but i am insure if it is real or fake.
Its "meant" to be a Pinarello Dogma 65.1 think 2.
Can anyone tell me whether it is or not?
If it is, are the fakes significantly different, can they be ridden?,

    THANKS alot!

Ask the seller to give you the serial number on the BB and check w/Pinarello.

If you can get your hands on a copy, this months VN will give you valid reasons why you might not want to.

Looks like a typical Greatkeenbike copy bike as they would put it. The real ones have partially painted front derailleur brackets plus the headset looks like the typically generic ones the counterfeits come with. That doesn't mean this frame is going to spontaneously fall apart - a lot of people have bought one these and had good luck with them. Just don't delude yourself into thinking this has any connection with the real thing besides appearance.

The article is "Black Market Carbon" and discusses a test between a real Specialized Tarmac SL4 and the counterfeit Greatkeenbike version. The article makes out the fake to be a complete deathtrap due to speed wobbles and lower strength carbon fiber. I just wonder how much a part Specialized had in spinning this article to the Velonews reporter completely to their side. Also, looking at the tensile strength testing of the carbon used in the counterfeit frame how different (if at all) is it from typical open mold Chinese frames?
