    fork length across frameset sizes

can i install a fork from a 56 frameset in a 54 frame? Steerer tube snapped however i may be able to acquire a fork from a spare frame (56) from a friend. it's the same bike (caad12) but am wondering if there are slight differences in length and rake between the two. thanks

Assuming it's a threadless steerer yes; you can put the 56cm frame's fork in the 54cm frame. You may have to either cut the steerer or add spacers to take up the slack.

As for rake differences-look on the steerer of each fork. Usually the rake is listed on a sticker of some sort. You'll see 40, 43, or maybe 45 (mm). Without knowing the head angle of each frame size, I can't give advice on what changes may occur.

size 54 and 56 frames from the same manufacturer will mostly likely 99% of the time use the same fork with same rake.

From what I've seen, it's only when you get into the really small frame sizes (within the 700c wheel spectrum) that you get fork with different (often odd...) offsets and geometries. I'm talking about sizes lime 52cm and smaller.
