New style 10sp Centaur levers on Old style 10sp?
I'm sure this has been covered, and I must be using the wrong search terms.

Can I use a set of "new style" Centaur 10 sp shifters (i.e., these: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=56143) on an "old style" 10 speed drive train?

I'm aware that the "new style" Centaur levers use the Powershift mechanism (3 down / 1 up).

    Thanks.

It works. Popular option for those who want the new shape but aren't ready to commit to 11.

Works totally fine. I've got mostly 2006 Chorus 10 speed with 2010 Centaur Ultra and there is not problem. The Power shift will work just fine too.
I did it for the new lever shape as the other poster mentioned. Been very happy with how it all performs.
Just put 2009/2010 Veloce Ultra shift group on my cross bike and the levers are work just as nice as the Centaur.

+1 no problems, with any level of old ten speed stuff.

See if you can get a pair of the 2010 Centaur. They have the same shifting as 11 speed. I use them on my cross bike with no problems at all.

you can still pick them up new on ebay.

    Centaur for $210
Excel Sports has them with cables for $210 right now.

210 is not a bad price.

I have a similar setup in one of my rides. Remember that the 2011 is escape mechanism, 2010 came in ultrashift and escape. Escape is cheaper, ultrashift ones can cost up to 100 bucks more.
