Older style Campy Centaur Ergopower Left Shifter with Compact Chainset

    Hi Folks,

New here so bear with me please

I picked up a used 2005 Cervelo Soloist Centaur with a compact chainset (2 rings). The left shifter feels like it has 5 clicks for indexed shifting so it becomes incredibly cumbersome to shift the front during a ride as to move up it takes 4/5 shifts and then the chain starts to rub so i have to pull it back a bit.

Is there anyway to tune this properly?

    Thank you in advance.

    Tino

Check the limits and positioning on the FD and make sure it has about 1mm gap between the chain and the cage plate on the lowest gear and about 2 mm between the tip of the large chainring teeth and the outer cage plate. When adjusted properly, the FD should shift to the large chainring on the third click.

    Hey, thanks nova.

So for the 1mm gap, you mean the chain and the back of the cage correct and not the bottom of the cage?

Correct, just try to get as close as you can without the chain rubbing.
