    Yes indeed Winter has arrived.

No snow yet (tonight?) but the Potomac is freezing up pretty good and almost any other pool, pond or basin around that still has water in it is frozen clear across.

Todays commute started with me checking how the icycles were doing, they were doing fine.

After work I had just enough time to get a few shots before the battery died and Miss M showed up about the same time (good thing too since my hands were starting to resemble the river ).

The Tunnel of Icey Death! We're supposed to get our first storms in months today!!! Whoo hoo! Snow finally, although probably not down here. Looks like I can ski and ride soon.

Did the batteries die due to the cold or just lots of use?

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But your pics are so delightful,
And as long as you warm your knees,
Let it freeze, let it freeze, let it freeze.

I love the icy maw of death shot. Classic!

MB our lake has been slowly freezing over and today there was a nice snow buildup on top. the kids were all running around on the ice. I'm just waiting to hear the ambulances rushing to pull them out of the icy water.

A few years ago I posted a couple of pix of Miss M and I riding ON the frozen C&O canal.

    On our R-OAD B-IKES .

Oh, we were young and foolish.

(Alas the images were saved on a computer that crashed and are gone forever ).

Yes, I wore my hiking boots today because I knew I was going to be messing around in the snow. It was a good decision (because of the low temps, how long I was out shooting and how much I played around in the snow )-wait till you see tonights photos.

You shouldn't go under icicles like that. Don't you watch any bad horror movies?! One of those things is going to pierce your brain.
