Won't work for a couple of reasons. You need to provide more details as well. What kind of shifters?
I work for some bike racers
I've got some bikes, some guns,
    and a bunch of skateboards

Is this a road or mountain bike?

So this is a MTB setup. Here is what you need.

30t Narrow wide chain ring. I like Race Face.
Cassette and a new chain while your at it.
    Remove shifter, FD and cable.
Remove all 3 chain rings and install narrow wide in the middle position.
Get a Goat Link from Wolftooth Components. The goat link goes between the RD and the hangar.

First, this is ROAD bike review. You'll obviously find more information at MOUNTAIN bike review.
Second, I can't stand goat links or road links. The derailleur you have is spec'd to work w/ a maximum large cog of 36t. If you install the link it will move the derailleur down and this will allow the 42 cog but you will sacrifice shifting performance in the smaller cogs. I would always recommend buying the proper derailleur for your application.
    Third...Shimano doesn't make an 11-42 in 10 speed...what cassette are you using?
