    8050 rear mech with 6870?

Will an 8050 GS rear derailleur work happily with 6870 shifters and front derailleur?

Looking to go long (medium) cage, and was thinking of upgrading the rear mech from 6870 to 8050.

(And yes, I know, there's a Shimano compatibility chart, but find it impenetrable - from what I can see, it's just a list of components.)
