another will it fit 11 sp conversion question Zipp 404s

    Hi,

I have a set of 2013 Zipp Firecrest 404s. Im looking to upgrade to an 11sp. I have looked at all the specs and such, the hub differences but Im all confused.

When I remove my cassette, the cassette mount on the hub is red and clearly states 10sp (expected). interestingly enough though there is a spacer between the back of the cassette holder and the cassette, it appears to be a little over a mm thick. I kept it in place and have enough clearance between the frame and the 11t cog.

So is the case where I would just need an 11 sp cassette mount?

... and does it need to be the expensive zipp one?

    Thank you,
    Ron

Is it a shimano cassette? Was there just one spacer? If yes to both that spacer came with the cassette and is always used on 99% of 10 speed hubs and basically has nothing to do with this situation. And the case would not be that you can just slap on an 11.

Get in touch with Zipp. I think I remember hearing you can replace the free hub and get the wheel re-dished for 11.

    you're welcome.

By the way I think this is what you need: https://www.jensonusa.com/Zipp-10-To...Conversion-Kit

But not 100% positive so don't take my word for it. Talk to a decent shop, a wheelbuilder or Zipp to make sure. And I'm pretty sure you'll need a re-dish too.

hmmm.....you shouldn't have had a spacer on there is it was a SRAM 10 speed cassette on a 10 speed only hub.

You say your wheels are 2013 and I think 11 speed came out in 2013.

I'd say you were using the spacer required to run 10 speed on an 11 hub but there's this you said: "the hub is red and clearly states 10sp"

So I really don't know now but I doubt Zipp printed 10 on there by mistake so can only guess someone put a spacer on by mistake.
