    BB 7 vs Shimano Mechanical

What is comparable to the proverbial Avid BB 7 from the Shimano World?

    (Not a hydro question)

In my experience the BB7 is a much nicer brake than any Shimano mechanical brake.

I'm not sure Shimano makes a mechanical disc caliper for road.

Everyone not getting hydraulic has been getting TRP Spyres or Hy-Rds for a long while. Even floor bikes have been coming with them.

Good to know. I've just been using BB7's for so long I'm outta touch. Never was any reason to change IMO. Thanks for the quick response!

If you decide to get TRP mechanical hydro's make sure to ask for a set that is specific to your shifter. TRP had some issues with their brakes not working well with SRAM Double Taps.
What was happening is that SRAM brake pull is different the Shimano, I guess more travel and people were pulling past the caliper port causing the pistons to get misplaced.
They have a fix for it. But you may have to ask so as not to have to go through getting a pair warrantied and sent back out.
I learned this servicing a brand new set in the shop

Iím thinking go the extra mile and extra $ís and pick up some Paulís Klampers. My front BB7 rattles slightly. I think itís the actuator arm. I can pull the cable tighter and it seems to help but itís a twitchy tweak...
