    Campy 8 speed ergos, 10 speed RD, 8 speed cassette

    Anybody know if this combo works:
    1) Campy 8 speed erogs
    2) 10 speed rear der
    3) 8 speed Campy cassette

    Campy changed the actuation ratio sometime in 2000. So all 8 sp and pre 2000 9 sp use the old style rear der. Contrary to what some say mixing doesn't work well. Add that to fact that 10 sp rears are too narrow to fit an 8 sp chain. Jtek #1 will make that combo work. Contact them and they will tell you the back door fix. Good luck

    No, it won't work. I tried it even though I knew better. You'll need to find an old der on e-bay or something.

    Yes, it will work if you add a Jtek Shiftmate type 1. The ratio between the actuation ratios for 8 speed and 10 speed is 1.07, the type 1 ratio is slightly less IIRC.

    It will not work quite as well as the 8 speed rear derailleur would. For best results run a 9 speed chain and either replace or shim the derailleur pulleys by 0.2mm.
