    Crankset compatibility with SRAM Etap

So I recently upgraded to ETAP for my bike, which currently has on it the older 105 compact crankset R5800. This worked no problem with the ETAP front derailleur.

I have read the the newer compact R7000 crankset has a re-positioned inner ring. I was wondering if anyone would know if the new setup would be compatible with the ETAP derailleur? I'm new to working on my own stuff, so I would appreciate any assistance.

This is the kind of thing that most people will never try. Not because it might not work but because when most people install a top of the line group like Red etap they do the whole thing. I'm pretty sure it will work but the odds of me ever actually trying it to confirm? 1 in a million.

I don't have etap, but I'm thinking out loud here. Can't you adjust the low limit of the FD to compensate for inner ring? I mean, the FD is electronic, so it should not depend on any sort of cable indexing at all, right?

You are correct, you can adjust the low limit. It is just a question of how much of an an adjustment can be made relative to the new inner ring position.

It looks like I'm just going to order the parts and see if it can be installed properly. This is a gravel bike that I splurged on when the ETAP system (WIFLI) was on serious discount on Amazon. Just slapped it onto my old 105 components and it worked fine. Thanks for the input.
