Debadged Fulcrum Racing Three bought on Ebay - Tiny hole in rim sidewall

Hello all. I just received a debadged Fulcrum Racing Three rear wheel I purchased on Ebay for a good deal. The weird thing is, I noticed a tiny little hole drilled into the rim sidewall on the non-drive side. Seems odd, and I may be acting paranoid, but this little hole has me concerned.

Is this something that is as odd as it seems?

lots of wheels have these. If it's all the way through it's there to drain any water that gets in. if its part way in, it's a wear indicator.

Just checked some wheels. Both Campy Neutron and an older Shimano rim have a single drain hole in the side of the rim and just below the brake track. No wear indicators.

My Mavic rims don't have either drain holes or wear indicators. And it's possible to get water into an Open Pro, so maybe a drain would be a good idea.

My Stans XTR have wear indicators but no drain.
