Direct drive trainer with 11 speed cassette on a 10 speed bike

I have the Elite Suito direct drive trainer on the way. It comes with an 11 speed cassette preinstalled. The problem is my bike has a 10 speed cassette.

What are my options here? Do I need to replace the cassette on the trainer with a 10 speed? Can I put an 11 speed cassette on my bike to match the trainer?

    Thanks!

10 and 11 speed cassettes are typically interchangeable with the addition of a spacer washer when using the 10 speed (see picture below). Your trainer will likely come with a spacer washer.

You'll likely be able to put the 11 speed cassette on your bike, but of course you'll need 11 speed shift levers and rear derailleur (Not so sure you need the rear derailleur, but definitely the shift lever.)

No it will not work. While you could mount the bike and it'll 'operate' it'll shift like crap, skip, and miss gears. The spacing on the cassettes are different.

    Your options are:
    (a) Take the 10sp cassette off your wheel and put it on the trainer.
    (b) Buy a new 10sp cassette for the trainer.

It's a direct drive trainer. He doesn't need to touch the bike.

Iím brand new to this, but Iím using a 9-speed bike on trainer with 11-speed cassette. I found a gear that seems smooth enough and change resistance rather than shift gears. So yes it can be done, but...

Iím recovering from a broken leg. Resistance is low, sessions are short and simple. I figure that when my training advances to more complexity Iíll move the 9-speed cassette to the trainer if necessary.
