    Help...taking a Rival crankset off a non-BB30 frame and installing on a BB30 frame.

I assume this is possible and I just need a different BB not a different crankset? All this BB30 stuff is new to me. What I remember of BBs is taking them apart and repacking the bearings!

So Im guessing I will be taking it off of a frame that has some type of an external BB with sealed bearings? Now will the BB30 frame already have bearings pressed in? Or I will buy the BB which will just basically be sealed bearings that slide onto the axle and be held in by the cranks?

    Thanks.

You need a BB30 adaptor that fits your BB shell.

    Something like this...http://www.universalcycles.com/shopp...s.php?id=29424
2012 Orbea Orca Gold. SRAM Red, Rolf Prima Ares 4
2007 Orbea Orca. SRAM Force, HED Ardennes
2010 Masi Soulville. SRAM Apex, Ritchey, Fizik
2014 Felt F65X 'Cross SRAM Rival / Apex Avid disc brakes

He will actually need this one. Bearings are different from the FSA cranks vs the Sram/Truvativ cranks.

no, that goes into a bb30 frame and allows a normal external cup bb to be threaded in...he's going the opposite direction

    Are you sure?

It says he's "taking a Rival crankset off a non-BB30 frame and installing on a BB30 frame"

He want's to put a standard Rival crankset on a BB30 frame right?

    What am I missing?

The way I understand it, you cant install a BB30 crank on a non BB30 frame. That would be going the "other way"

Right, "bearings" in the the NDS cups are different (not really the bearings, but that's getting too picky). But thread pitches of english threaded cups are not. Either one of those adapters will work for converting a BB30 frame to an english threaded (1.37 x 24tpi) system.
