    Jagwire cable housing

I am replacing cables and housings and was going to buy Shimano housing as it worked fine before.

But Performance and another shop recommended Jagwire as it is supposedly better quality than Shimano so I bought brake and shifter housings.

I noticed however, there seems to be more friction between the cable and the hole going through the housing - it seems the hole in the JW is smaller in diameter. And it seems more prep is required to open the hole up on the ends also - (I have the Park cable/housing cutting tool) but.

Anyone used both Shimano and Jagwire and housings and noticed any differences, especially friction wise?

    Thanks in advance.

I don't know who supplies the housing Shimano sells under their own label in the USA, but JagWire supplies most of the cables and housings used as original equipment on Shimano equipted bikes.

In my experience, I've never noticed a quality difference between the better grades of Jag and Shimano cables or housings.

Maybe the grade of housing I got is the issue. I wasn't aware they made different grades - the one I bought is one dollar per foot which is pretty cheap.

In any case, I'll use it because I bought and hope the tension I feel is imaginary.

    Thanks!

Jagwire is good stuff...just run a sharp awl or sharpened spoke into the hole to flare it out after cutting it and you'll be fine.
