    lost cane creek/eesystems spring

    Hi all,

Yesterday I discovered I've lost the spring to my cane creek/eesystems direct mount rear brake. How that happened, I don't know, but maybe when I dropped the chain yesterday and had a heck of a fight to get it off after breaking it. I didn't notice the missing spring until I replaced the chain which was skipping the last few miles as I limped home. I went back to the scene of the incident and couldn't find the spring there.

Is this at all common? I've had the brakes for a year, and am very happy with them. I'll be calling a couple of the shops in the area that sell cane creek in hopes of getting a new spring quickly, but this seems like it should never happen.

A related question, the right hand, looking from the rear, pivot/mount does not move at all. Is this how those brakes are designed to function? Seems odd as it would mean the rim is pushed into that pad, needing a good bit of rim deflection.

    This is on a 2018 Felt FR1.

    Thanks as always,
    Bradley

Both should move. Odds of local shop having spring <10%.

I've got some bikes, some guns,

Those are better odds that I was hoping for! I'll be giving the two lbs that are cane creek dealers in the area a call, and then calling cane creek if I have to. Thanks.
