    New to bike maintenance

I very new to bike maintenace and wanted to ask what I'm sure is a very basic and easy to answer question. When removing a bottom backet on a road bike is there a reverse thread on the non drive side and a normal thread on the drive side. The last thing I want to do is cross the thread on the frame and cause damage I cannot rectify

This depends entirely on the bottom bracket.
What brand of frame are you talking?

Without knowing the entire Synapse history manufacturing line, I'd say you have no threads. It's most likely a BB30 pressfit.

According to the OP, he has a MegaEXP BB. Which is threaded.

OP, check your BB. There's usually an arrow which shows the direction. This is the video for MegaEXO BB.

All Cannondales since the beginning of time with threaded BB's have had English threaded BB's.

To OP, this means that the drive side is reverse threaded. Non-drive side is regular.

Not all. Cannondale invented the BB30 standard in 2006. They've been migrating their bikes to the BB30 ever since.

The Synapse migrated to BB30 in 2011. Although the Sora model Synapse is still a threaded cartridge BB.
