Orange you glad I didnít say banana

A while back I (foolishly) purchased a Brooks Cambium in natural. The saddle was okay in terms of comfort, but the natural fabric color stained the first time it encountered sweat. On the interwebz I saw that folks have had some success in dyeing their Cambiums using fabric dye. So, I decided to give it a go. All the videos I saw were saddles dyed black. Whereís the fun in that.

Behold. Rit dye Tangerine! Weíll see how color-fast it is after a few rides. I figure I can always dye it black later if need be.

Could be. All my cycling shorts are black, though, so how will I know?

I've always liked dark colors for saddles and handlebar tape. However, I kind of like this orange. Hope it stays colorfast. If not, well, it will be a great conversation piece regardless.

You could spray it with fabric water proofer to help repel moisture and dirt

I hadnít thought of that. I know Rit makes something to help set their dye, but ScotchGuard might work, too.

Update: Two swampy rides later, each a little over 30 miles...

So far so good. The orange has faded slightly on either side of the nose where most of the movement/friction takes place, but it seems to be holding up.

Do you think the douchebags at The Rules had this in mind when they decreed that saddles must match the bar tape?
