    Pad insert for SRAM brakeset

Hi, first I tried the search engine and did not found much info, so sorry if this as been posted in the past.

I have SRAM 09 Rival brakes on my bike and I want more stopping power. On my Zipp(aluminum braking surface) and on my Fulcrum 5 evo I found them very weak in power, much weaker then my prior ultegra brakes. I tought about buying new fancy brake but finally found more resonable to found the appropriate brake pads. My questions: Are the pad insert Shimano compatible are necessary SRAM compatible? What would be a good choice for aluminum rim only?

    Thanks.

yep, shimano compatible...try shimano or cool stop pads. the sram brakes should work very well, they are stiff and have great power.

did you use ferruels on the housings? without them the brakes will feel spongy.

sorry about the spelling. ferrules-the metal caps on the ends of the housing. SRAM systems need them, Shimano doesn't.

I have the 2009 Rival brakeset with Kool-Stop salmon pads on the front, and regular Kool-Stop on the back. This gives me great stopping power when I need it (via the front) as well as wet-weather stopping power due to the salmon pads.
