Replace whole rear mech or just replace cracked inner cage?

Sorry to ask so many questions on this rear mech. I'm making a big meal out of it I know. The inner cage is cracked on the rear mech Ultegra SL 6600. I don't know if it happened when I came off the bike last year or when the chain came off. Anyway, a new inner cage can be bought for under 10 GBP but I'm worried that there may be other damage I can't see. I did have some shifting problems that seem to have been cured by replacing the cables and replacing the slightly bent rear hanger. So what would you do? Replace the whole mech with a new 6700 Ultegra unit at 50 GBP or fit a new cage to the knocked SL 6600? Thanks in advance.

I'd pull the thing off and give it a close examination. If you say it was bent, it might not ever shift right again. Maybe it's better just to fork over the 80.00USD and be worry free.

happened miraculously a couple of times on two XTR 952, both cages were replaced. The inner one came from a used LX and for the outer one I was able to find a worn out 950 to cannibalize.

if you're able to find a cage, replace it.

Replace the broken part. There's no downside.

Agree, and especially so since his is such an easy job. Keep in mind that the top and bottom jockey wheels are not identical, so remember which one is which.

Replace the RD and send the broken one to me. I'll use it.

Seriously, just replace the inner cage.
    You can't fix stupid.
