S-works Tarmac sl 3 build advice??

I bought a 2011 Tarmac SL 3 S-Works frame and I want to build with SRAM Red. What bottom bracket do I need? Do you need t o match with cranks or do cranks just work with different sized bottom bracket?

There are two different 2011 S-Works Tarmac SL3 framesets...

This one is the "OSBB" version, which has a PressFit 30 all-carbon BB shell. Specialized Bicycle Components : S-Works Tarmac SL3 OSBB Frameset If you want to use SRAM Red with it, it needs a PF30 bottom bracket, and the BB30 version of the SRAM Red crankset.

This one is the threaded 68mm BB version: Specialized Bicycle Components : S-Works Tarmac SL3 Frameset If you want to use SRAM Red with it, I recommend an SRAM-compatible Chris King bottom bracket (I hated the SRAM GXP BBs), and the GXP version of the SRAM Red crankset. The CK BB is much more reliable and MUCH easier to maintain than the SRAM GXP BBs.

    Hope this helps.

GXP and Hollowtech II are not compatible.

If you are referring to the Chris King bottom bracket, they have a version available for SRAM GXP cranksets.

I'm using one with my Rival GXP crankset. Works perfectly.

I got the grease injector tool too. A complete teardown of my GXP crankset and Chris King BB, cleaning, regreasing and reassembly takes all of 20 minutes. I love how easy it is to maintain the GXP crank / Chris King BB combination.

I wasn't referring to CK. Yes, they have a version for SRAM and it's way better than SRAMs hands down. The Mrs. is on her second set of SRAM bb after only about 400 miles. I hope this new set is more reliable, if not then I see CK in the future.

I was just simply stating that SRAM and Shimano bbs are not compatible.
