    Shimano 105 R7000 Crankset Spacing

I'm looking to do a little refresh on my bike and a little frankstein... I got a Campagnolo Centaur 10 Speed and I want to change the crank with slightly shorter crank arms, but still have the stiffness of the Shimano chainrings.

Looking at the R7000 11 speed crankset and planning to put a 11s chain with these setup. But I read one review that the R7000 crankset might be different than the 5800 crankset and making it not compatible with the older derailleur? Can anyone confirm what is the spacing between chainrings between the R7000 and 5800? Did it go wider to fit a wider range cassette?

I've read somewhere that the R7000 (and 8000, 9100) crankset have the chainrings .4mm wider apart than the any of the older series crankset before it. The big ring remains in the same position as the older series crankset. So this means that the small ring moves inboard by .4mm. You will need the R7000 front derailleur to make it work smoothly with the R7000 crankset

The R7000 front derailleur will work with older cranksets ok though.

If it is 0.4mm wider apart, then technically a 10speed derailleur should be more compatible?

well that will depend on what 10spd front der you're talking about? DA 7800 and DA 7900 front der have different width. But I wouldn't know which of those der would work better with a 7000 crankset though

With a Campy front derailleur that might not be a problem because it has multiple indexing compared to Shimano.
