    Shimano Pinch Bolt Question

This is a dumb question but it needs answering anyway:

I have a Shimano RC-700 compact crank. I stripped one of the pinch bolts (used a torque wrench but sometimes I let it slip). Anyway, I need a new bolt. Went to the local shop, they do not have.

Spec sheet states that the bolt is M6x19. I am currently using the Dura Ace bolt that is M6x15, a little shorter so that is why I want to replace with the proper length bolt (I properly torqued the shorter bolt for fear of stripping the crank arm if I put too much pressure on too few threads).

I ordered bolts at racebolts.com in M6x20 tapered head size (the shimano compact screw is not enclosed like the Dura Ace so a 1mm difference in length would make no difference). I assume that a spec'd size bolt is always the same.

The bolt I bought is Ti 6/4. I do not know if the Shimano bolt is Ti or Alu. Does the material make any difference?

The shimano screws are Alu. I replaced mine with steel and they have been much better. I doubt the TI bolt will cause a problem.
