Question SPD, SPD R Question, Confused ....

I have posted this question before but I got mixed replies.

Will SPD Mountain shoes work with SPD R pedals? Will SPD R cleats fit into the recess on SPD mountain shoes? (shimano brand shoes SH M020, and Time Mid Pedals.) Nashbar said it wouldn't work, two people on this board said it would, i trust you all more, but i wanna know ..... thanks a lot

I'm 90% certain that it won't work. For one, the bolt pattern is different. Perhaps there is an adapter for it, but I don't know of one. I know you can get an adapter to use a spd cleat on an spd-r style shoe, but I don't know of one that goes the other way.

You are definitely confused. SPD will not work with SPD-R. The cleats will not fit and the pedal will not fit between the knobs on your MTB shoes.
