Specialized S-Works SL6 Tarmac eTap with Dura Ace Brakes

    Hi all,

I just received my 2018 Specialized S-Works Tarmac and was transferring over all my parts. Since the new Tarmac only had Direct Mount Brakes and SRAM doesn't have Direct Mount Brakes yet I picked up some Shimano Dura Ace 9110 brakes. However, my LBS sold me two of the front 9110 brakes and said that the BR-9110-F and the BR-9110-RS are the same and that the BR-9110-F could be used as a rear brake. I read through all the litature from shimano and all that is stated is that the brake shoes are different and that you could not use the BR-9110-RS as a front brake. I mounted it up last night and it looks like it will work. Has anyone heard of this before?

I know my Fuji transonic came with a front brake on the rear. (As well a front on the front, of course)
