Question Ultegra FD 6600 Compatible switch to Ultegra FD-R8000 Front Derailleur, OK?

My Ultegra FD-6600 clamp 34.9, stopped working.

Can I replace the FD-6600 with the Ultegra FD-R8000 Front Derailleur?

    Is R8000 a compatible replacement for FD-6600?

    Any special considerations?

No, the cable pull ratio has changed. When Shimano went to 11 speed with 6800, the FD had the longer clamping arm which changed the amount of cable pulled. All 11 speed are compatible between models but not backwards to 10 speed.

You can use Dura Ace 7800 or 105 of that era if you wish or current Tiagra/Sora should work as well.

By the way it's unlikely your FD broke, which is different from 'stopped working".
Maybe you know it's 'broke' but if it's just not working I'd spend some time trying to fix it before getting a new one.

Actually Jay is correct, the FD did not break. Trouble shooting and realize it is the Left Ultegra Flight Deck STI 6600 shifter that is broken. Wont click. Took it off and sprayed it with degreaser, still stuck without any clicks.

Another question, I have a circa 2011 Left SRAM Rival Shifter that works, Is this 2011 SRAM Rival Shifter compatible with the 2006 Ultegra ST6600 34.9 FD?

    Thanks for replys.

The SRAM shifter isn’t compatible with your Shimano components.

Regarding your 6600 shifter: rather than just blasting the interior with degreaser, wait for the degreaser to run out/dry in the shifter then insert some good lube, TriFlow as an example, into the shifter and run a shift wire into the shifter as normal and while pulling on the wire then operate the shifter as normal.

Thanks DaveT. Will try. Is it ok to use Motorex Intact MX50, rather than TriFlow.?

Also where do I apply? Pics attached shifter.

I used TriFlow as an example of a liquid lube. You can use any other lube that you have laying around.

The lube should be put on the moving parts that operate the shift wire. Don't be shy about how much you insert in there but it will be messy as the lube drips out of the shifter. Turn the shifter over and around to get the lube in all the shifty bits.
