    Upgrade old Mt. bike

I have an older bike with Alivio group that is 8 speed. I had to get new wheels and they are 11 speed. Will the rear derailleur work with 11 speed if I get a new rear shifter or do I have to replace derailleur also.
if I have to replace both what would the minimum group be that I should get to work with an 11-36 cassette. I have Durace on my road bike. Donít need anything that good on this bike.

If you're trying to go cheapest route, why not just keep the bike on 8-speed, all that should take is the proper spacer on the freehub I think...
