    Why Hydraulic Brake Line Couplings?

I've seen a few bikes now with couplings in the hydraulic lines between the bar tape and the frame entrance point. Is the purpose to protect the brake lines from kinks when shipping new bikes, before the bars are mounted? If not, what's the purpose?

Pretty sure it's this. The only other thing I can think of is to ship the bike so that mechanics that might not have experience w/ hydraulic brake systems don't have to cut the hose, install the hardware, and bleed the system.

Well, I'm going to leave them out of my project then - simpler is better. Thanks
