Question Will it work?...10 speed chain & chain rings with a new 11 speed shift kit & cassette

    Hey Guys,

I've recently purchased a new Shimano 9070 Di2 shift upgrade kit and was wondering if my current KMC X10SL chain and 39/53T Rotor Q-Rings will interoperate with all this new 11 speed gear (new 9070 shifters, FD, RD and 11 speed cassette). I was running 2012 10 speed SRAM Red shifting gear prior.

Alternatively, are there 11 speed specific chains and chain rings from Rotor?

    TIA.

    Brendon

OK, KMC have just emailed me to confirm that you CANNOT use their X10SL chains with an 11 speed drive train as the width of the 11 speed chain is 0.38 mm slimmer which makes their X10SL 10 speed chain too wide for an 11 speed cassette. Anyone want to buy 5 brand new X10SL Ti-N chains?

Further, they confirmed that all chain rings, such as my Rotor Q-Rings will operate fine as chain width at the front chain rings is irrelevant.
