    Brake Help.

So, I have been riding my xc bike for 20 years with brakes that SUCK. They are some dia compe cantis...(I have tried Pauls, SRP, no improvement.)
Looking for a linear pull brake that will work with ultegra brake levers...any such good brakes out there?
I am spoiled by discs on all of my other bikes!

Buy either a V-brake or mini-V brake, and use a Travel Agent for brake lever compatibility.

Mini-V's may be short enough to work without a Travel Agent; try before you buy.

As for regular V-brakes, I like Avid Single Digits, which I have used on my mountain bike for at least the last 15 years. Easy pad changes, handy adjustment screws for centering, and the higher end models use stainless hardware so no rusting and they always look new.

Yeah, I tried the travel agent XT/V thing about 17 years ago, it didn't have enough mud clearance. But granted, it worked. I forgot about that.
I don't really ride in that kind of mud anymore, so that might be a good solution.
