    I do not mean to imply that there is anything wrong with your preference, but you can pull backwards with good flat pedals.

    Kind of puzzled by this one. Perhaps yours were defective or misadjusted? I've never pulled out accidentally of mine and they always clip in without having to mess with positioning. Just did a ride in flip flops on the commuter over the weekend and you can't even tell it's not a flat unless you are looking at the pedal.

    I guess it goes to show that pedals are a very personal choice- which is why most higher end bikes leave them out.
