If you have one of these bikes you might be able to hep out on a really cool project:

    Trek 970 ZX, 990 ZX, 1995 8000, 1996 930 SHX

    Diamondback 1995 WCF Vertex

    Specialized 1995 Stumpjumper M2, 1995 Rockhopper A1FS

    Fisher 1996 Xcaliber

    GT 1997 STS-1, 1996 Zaskar, 1996 LTS Team

    KHS FXT

    Giant 1997 ATX 770/880

    Mongoose 1996 IBOC Team SX

    Univega Dual Action Pro

Barracuda 1995 Dos Equis XX, A2V

    Kona 1997 Lava Dome

    Jamis 1996 Diablo LE

    Klein 1996 Pulse II

    Ibis 1996 Szazbo/Mojo, 1997 Alibi

If you have a bike on the list, please take a look at the headset on it....

    does it look like this?:

Headset: Dia Compe Kontak ST in *silver*

If it does, we need it for this project:

Help Build Susan DeMattei's Bronze Medal Olympic Bike!- Mtbr.com

It's the last piece of the puzzle....

    Thanks,

    Steve

Huh? you want us to strip our headset off a bike to give to Susan? Considering my Lava Dome, which has a 1 1/8" threadless Dia-Compe Kontak Aheadset ST-2 headset is being used by my daughter I'm not about to strip it off! I understand that would be cooool to give to her and I would if I had a spare headset.

You can find these headsets on the internet, see this site for either a suitable replacement or repair parts for that headset: BikePro.com / Buyer's Guide / Dia Compe Headsets - Bicycle Parts at discount prices / the Buyer's Guide / Bicycle Parts at their finest! / Professional Bicycle Source / Bike Pro

Thanks to input from everyone, it has been determined that the headset we need is probably not a Kontak but a Dia Compe Ahead II. The picture of the headset in the original post is correct...we need the one with the angles edges, silver, 1 1/8".

This changes the "bikes" list...I'll start googling and revise with what I find out..

    Thanks again for your support.
