    Garmin Edge 705 charging

I got the Edge 705 yesterday and charged it all night long. The battery icon in the menu is just slightly, if that, half full and green, but at least half full.

When I plug the unit into the wall charger, it just shows a half full red battery. This is nothing like the Edge 305 I had that told me when the battery was fully charged.

How will I know when the Edge 705's battery is fully charged? The unit doesn't show the icons like the manual shows it should. When it is charging and I bring up the menu, it shows an electrical plug instead of a battery with a "lightning" bolt through it.

What have you guys experienced with charging this thing?

Common problem. Let it fully discharge overnight (leave it on unplugged) until the screen is blank. Plug in and it will charge normally. There is a new software update 2.2, download with webupdater. Corrects that problem and others..
