Greetings from one more newbie (Great White North)

    Hi all,

    Short intro:

    Age: 75
Interests/hobbies: a whole slew, one of them cycling both on the road and on dirt.
Reason to join: looking for Shimano 600 parts for my vintage (1981 Nishiki Comp) road bike.
    Google helped getting here.

Apart from the Nishiki I have an other oldie, a Bianchi Nyala (ca 1990) which was a hand-me-down birthday present (1995) and will be replaced by a diVinci Stellar Acera (arriving next week).

Been in the Sunny Okanagan Valley BC Canada since 1999 (mostly retired ).
The reason to get back into more cycling? My disgust at how long it took this past season to get back into good XC skiing form.
Best not to get more than 3 weeks of rest between the end of the XC season (mid Nov to early Apr) and other sports.

    Addendum to the "short intro":

Back in the "good old days" when I was a much more "eager beaver" (mid 80s) I was part of the Tri team in our running club. I also did all the maintenance on our bikes. Admittedly that was a long time ago and a lot of technology changed. Besides today I enjoy riding a lot more than "tinkering", but I'll get back to it. One step at a time.
    Cheers

    Greetings Mike!

    Yeah, yeah I know.

But we're still the Great White North. I actually have a "theory" how that came about. I imagine North America maps in US school rooms with all the States in full glorious colour, with Canada just a huge, blank white blurb taking up most of what's north of the 49th. All this so the kids would concentrate on what is important. How's that??

Of course there is Alaska, the biggest State in the Union, which according to comments, the Texans fret about.
    Cheers
