    I remember when most cycling socks were short in height

    Now most of them are really tall. When did all of this change?

    I think it began during Lance's TdF "reign". More sock height = more advertising space.

    It's gotta be one of the dumbest ideas ever.

    Yeah, during the Lance comeback, when compression socks were all the rage. I've never been a triathlete, no-show type of sock wearer, but I still try to keep my cuffs under 4". A little longer for cold-weather wool socks, but otherwise still relatively moderate.

    I like them long. I absolutely hate the ankle/no show socks.
