My favorite race when I was going to the track a lot. Not quite like this, but still super fun.
I work for some bike racers
I've got some bikes, some guns,
    and a bunch of skateboards

With the betting aspect, you kinda wonder why this hasn't taken off in Florida to replace Greyhounds.

With humans, it's too easy to fix the race. With dogs, not so much.
    Insert something clever here:

Insert list of every bike I own here:

But people who gamble are gonna gamble taking the fix into accounts. We'll keep the sport clean just like boxing and baseball.

Until about 90 years ago, "six day races" used to be a popular sport for gambler. Thousands of people would go to large venues (the old Madison Square Garden used to be popular), and find bookies in the stands to lay bets on. The famous cyclist Major Taylor made most of his fortune from such races. And, of course, it was corrupt as hell.....

The bikes just go to show ya, the technology may have changed, but a bike is still a human powered instrument engineered for response and speed. And guess what? Steel rules!

Are those 32 or 36 spoked wheels with box section aluminum rims? Very strong, stiff, crashworthy. Rat trap pedals with toe clips and straps? No other scheme holds the foot on the pedal better. How about those seats? No cutouts! A bit of support along the sides, firm support in an all-out sprint.

The gears aren't always the same, but aren't those chainrings around 42-50 teeth, on a 13 tooth fixed gear? Huh huh. Gonna ride that gear on the next club ride? A bud rode a fixie one season. He turned out in the Fall with a more precise pedal stroke, and stronger than ever. He'd cream the competition on the climbs, just kill them. His legs could do it superbly well. Theirs' couldn't.

Food for thought on "modern" vs. "traditional." This from a guy who's ridden two steel bikes with box section 36 spoke rims, rat trap pedals, clips and straps, and Selle Italia Turbo saddles since '84, and never looked back. The only difference from Keirin bikes? I added a few more gears, and to keep it simple, down tube friction shifters. They've never failed.

Bikes born to last, ridden hard, trouble free, at 1/10th the price of high zoot carbon. That's hard to beat.
