    New helmet for non-round head

So my head is not round. A typical helmet touches the front and back of my head with too much space on the sides.

My current Specialized S-Works helmet (probably 8 yrs old) fits great but the internal cage is now broken. I plan on trying the Prevail at my LBS soon.

    Any other suggestions?

Specialized ECHELON is also a good helmet for oval shaped heads as is POC Octal.

I'm in your same boat, OP, and posted the same question a few years back...

Hey You With the "Long Oval" Head!

Long-story-short, I know of no bicycle helmet manufacturers that cater to us with a "long-oval" shaped head. About all we can do is buy a typical helmet that is going to be too wide and stuff pillows on each side of our head

I've had the same issue. My Lazer Vandal helmet fits my oval head shape well, although I wish it had more padding.
    Insert something clever here:

    Hello Cevan.

Have gone through many helmets over the years with same issue, oval shape creates hot spots on forehead while too much space is found on side of helmet.

Have always had great fit from Specialized. Wearing S-Works Prevail II from 2019 collection. Had POC Octal before with less ideal results. Ok but not great. Hope that helps. Spent many years in Bell (similar to POC, Ok fit but not ideal). Ironically I started racing back in mid-90s with a Specialized helmet of that period and it fit really nicely as I recall.

That's a great tip then. So often it's a round head telling me what I need when clearly he has not understood what a prob it is to us oval heads.

This is the same issue as when I used to ride motorcycles. We used to say that you either had a "Shoei head" or an "Arai head". I've been having my best luck lately with Bontrager for my bike, but also have issued sure to needing a large head. Anything sized L/XL doesn't work -- has to be straight XL.
